I remember ten years ago sitting down with my laptop on a Sunday evening and making my first post here at Tales from the Yellow Hand. I'd been tinkering with the blog, editing and customizing the template by hand, stumbling across the Yellow Hand Girl in a Google image search on "yellow hand"... and then the blog went live. Ten years ago today.

Over these past ten years, Tales from the Yellow Hand has been very active at times, and at times less active or even mothballed. It's gone through various phases, but has always remained at heart a hand fetish and femdom handgag blog with a strong but not exclusive emphasis on female-dominant hand-over-mouth fiction. When I started out I wouldn't have guessed that this blog would still be active ten years later, and I certainly would never have dreamed that I'd end up writing such a huge quantity of HOM fiction, now 119 HOM stories and counting. But here we are, with a new story up today, and more stories on the drawing board.

Actually I've been writing hand-over-mouth stories for nearly 40 years now. When I was in eighth grade, 1976-77, I started writing things down by pencil in a leatherbound calendar book which I kept carefully hidden in my room. At first it was just random entries, nonfiction accounts of incidents I'd experienced or witnessed, various dreams and fantasies involving my secret fascinations. Soon I was writing complete stories. By the time I was 16 or 17 I had written two multi-chapter "mouthholding" novellas, The Ballad of Going Egyptian and The Ballad of Jacki the Strong, set in a vague future sexual dystopia which is to some extent reproduced in my short story, Aviatrix.

Alas, the old calendar book is long gone. I eventually burnt it, out of fear that my parents or my sister might find it. Then in college came handwritten and typewritten stories, later transcribed to computer and shredded. Then I wrote dozens of stories on my computer, including in the early 90s an unfinished novel, The Adventures of an English Public Schoolboy, and a complete Tiger's Eye novel.

Sadly in 2003 everything I'd written up till then was lost in a hard drive crash -- everything except for four short stories which I happened to have on a floppy disk. Right, I kept backups of videoclips and the like on 100 meg zipdisks, but somehow I thought it was "more secure" not to make backups of my stories. Given the subject matter, I hardly dared try to get it retrieved. Since then I make backups often!

So I've been writing HOM fiction for nearly four decades, the larger half of that stretch before I first got online and stumbled across SMN, SH!Online, etc. Indeed, I started writing in the era before home computers, and the first few years I was writing I didn't even know what a fetish was! I wonder how many people there were, back in those days before the Internet, writing niche fetish stories in private with no hope of an audience, because we never dreamed there could be an audience for such stories, didn't even know if anyone else in all the world shared our secret quirks.

(Continued)

A big thank-you to all of you readers out there, those of you who've offered feedback and comments over the years, and those of you who've silently lurked and read. I really do appreciate all of you. The first several years I was online I seldom spoke up. Then I began to share my HOM fiction with you, first on Mr. Smothers' old SMN Takeforum, and then soon after that here at Tales from the Yellow Hand, where it's been ten years and counting. Here's to many more years and many more hand fetish and handgag stories!
