Nail Talk Overheard in Public

Overheard in public once years ago, a young couple walking along together...

She (waving her smooth womanly hands at him): "And then... then I had... I had nails like claws one time..."

He: "Oh yeah, those nails..."

And then another time I saw a couple sitting together at a table in a restaurant:

She: "I'm letting my nails grow out long, and I've got to be careful now, because I can scratch myself."

And as she said this, she reached across the table and dug her long, sharp fingernails hard into the back of his hand.

And then there were some college girls one time sitting together at a table in the cafeteria:

One girl: "And I always wanted to have really long fingernails, and my sister used to have really long fingernails, and this one friend of my sister's, she used to have really, really long fingernails, they were like this long" -- she gestures with her thumb and forefinger held about three inches apart -- "and her nails were so long that they curled right back around..."

Another girl: "Oh, yick!!!"

And I'm sitting at the next table, overhearing all this and just about going crazy.
